TULSA, Okla. — On Friday, February 28, 2020, at 5:30 PM in the Historic Vernon Chapel AME Church on Greenwood Avenue, The Julius Jones Coalition will host a social justice meeting, in partnership with the Oklahoma State Conference NAACP, Metropolitan Baptist Church, and Vernon Chapel AME.

Dr. Pastor Robert Turner of Vernon AME will welcome community members, special guests and honorable dignitaries, then introduce the evening’s keynote speaker, Federal Public Defender Dale Baich, who appeared in Viola Davis’ documentary series The Last Defense — which explores and exposes flaws in Oklahoma’s justice system through an emotional, in-depth examinations of death row inmate Julius Jones.

The event will also include short film clips from The Last Defense and The Clemency Letter of Julius Jones, followed by a Q & A session with panelists: Antoinette Jones (Julius Jones’ sister), Attorney Dale Baich and Okla. NAACP President Anthony Douglas — moderated by Nehemiah Frank of The Black Wall Street Times.

Following the panel will be action steps delivered by Rev. Eric Gill of the Met Church.

Pastor Turner of the historic Greenwood church, Vernon AME Chapel, will close the evening with final remarks and prayer.
